Thinking about the topic of entrepreneurship, I always knew that if I were to start a business, I would do it in some sustainable way. The example I think of most prominently is that I thought it would be a really interesting idea to start a business to make metal like sheets for various uses with the use of extremely compressed trash found in landfills and oceans. For various reasons, I have let go of this idea but continue to work towards learning about sustainable product-based entrepreneurship. As this was what was on my mind (because of my environmental science class), for a project in my ISM class I chose to research sustainable entrepreneurship.
Ofc, I did learn about sustainability as a concept and how it is not just a “buzzword” anymore, but I also learned about how much it takes for entire countries to make their businesses sustainable, and I realized it is shockingly low. It made me want to push further towards my goals previously mentioned. Also, I learned about the influences of how cultures affect people’s businesses and sustainability movements and it helped restart my plans of wanting to incorporate my culture into any businesses I pursue in the future.
Something slightly unrelated, this past week was also a reassurance of the importance of time management in professionalism as I was staying up late every night with schoolwork/studies, had meetings for organizations I am a part of, and classes that I had to work around. I forgot and missed some of the smaller details in between things and was slightly sluggish, but my friend reminded me that I need to “keep a smile on my face” no matter the circumstances as it is the best way to stay positive, professional, and maintained.
