As mentioned in the previous blog post, I had my first mentor visit last wednesday and it went extremely well! To start, we were able to start finally setting goals. I knew that I really wanted to get this product and business making sales by the end of the semester, but, on the call, I realized that although possible, it is slightly out of reach because I am creating a new product design entirely and still will need to manage my schoolwork and other extracurricular activities. We decided to have the goal for me a bit less straining and decided to have the goal of having a final product or atleast a prototype in hand by final presentations night.
We decided to set up a few main checkpoints to meet this goal. To start, we will be getting on call with shoe designers and footwear design engineers to discuss the product and get a better idea of what changes need to be made. Afterwards, we will contact someone online on a website like Fiverr to make a design for us and make a 3d printable file for us to test the design. We will then discuss what to do based on the results of those.
We also talked about finances for the company and its palace in the legal system however that applies largely in the future. On Wednesday, I have a meeting set up with a footwear design engineer( as mentioned before). My mentor will also be there so this will be my second mentor visit but I am excited and nervous as, although this is for a class in school, this can have real positive consequences for me outside of school.
