It's not Kindness, it’s Humanity

This week, in my ISM Class, I read and wrote about an article about how many Latin American settled into the United States, that being through support, empathy, and foundation building within cultural groups. It reminded me about how many Indians settle into the United States in a very similar way. I have stated in some of my other blogs about my passion for Indian culture and how as an entrepreneur, I hope to implement that into my business in some way, shape, or form. Although the article did remind me of this “plan” of sorts, it reminded me of a much more valuable lesson.

I noticed that the article said many Latin Americans use support from friends and families who have already established their businesses. I thought that this was not the smartest action from an entrepreneurial standpoint as the already established businessman and businesswoman would just be creating their competition for themselves. However, when looking at this from a more humane standpoint I realized that they were really just empathetic as they were in the same situation at one point and just want to help someone who is almost like family.

It made me realize that, although necessary, the “every man for themselves” mindset in business isn't the mindset I want to have all time and I want to help someone if they need it because at the end of the day, money is just money. If you have to risk someone else’s happiness and wellbeing to get to that point, there is no point.
