I come from an Indian Family, and for the past couple of years I really have been embracing my Indian culture and heritage so when I found an article related to my topic of study, Entrepreneurship, and how it connects to my India, it brightened by outlook to what i had previously thought of as a boring assignment. The article made me question my own knowledge of the way businesses run in India. There was a lot in the article that I already knows such as the infrastructural issues, location issues for starting business, the use of mobile phones and mobile phone technology, and how the large population effects entrepreneurship as a whole, but the article also talked about women in the field, changes in government policies, and the use of social media. I personally had not seen these in action so I began to question this but then I realized something. My knowledge of entrepreneurship in India was not very broad. I only knew of it on a very small scale because my family in India owned a few small shops and businesses in smaller suburban towns. As per what I knew of those businesses(with-in my family), the women did not work there at all, they didn't get affected too much by government policy changes, and that I had never seen them use social media but this all probably changes as businesses get larger, are in more urban areas, etc. It was a reminder of the fact that as much knowledge as I have, there is always more room for growth. In this case, the growth was emphasized on my knowledge of Indian economics and businesses along with the general topic of entrepreneurship.
