To be completely honest, regular school assignments are usually not that challenging for me. In “normal” courses, assignments are designed to be completed by each and every student for the classes they take. ISM, however, is slightly different from regular courses. Although each student is technically provided with the same assignments, they have to go about doing the assignments in very different ways.
Currently, in class we are finding professionals to interview and learn from, however this has been particularly difficult for me. I want to focus on entrepreneurship but I don’t want to find technology or application based start-ups to interview, I want to focus on physical product based startups/small businesses to learn about the design process, marketing, and business structures. The region I live in makes this extremely difficult as it is very difficult to find business of this kind so it is very overwhelming to see my classmates already messaging professionals and setting up interviews while I struggle to even find one.
Although I am slightly stressed out about the outcome of all this as I am not entirely sure whether or not I will be able to complete the task by the deadline, I think I will be fine as I have access to resources that could help me, including my teachers, my parents, and several connections I made during the business symposium. As of now, I am thinking I may have to broaden my scope in terms of what kinds of business I will be open to learning about, but more research and exploration might just be the key to help me take this next step in my ISM and professional journey.
