Me and my SAT tutor have slowly become closer over the course of a couple lessons and in between questions, we like to have conversations about life, businesses, etc. Just a few days ago, we were talking and I told him about an idea I had for a small business because I knew that he would have some great insight on it. We went back and forth presenting each other's ideas towards it and having mini debates about the ideas presented. Without going into the specifics of the conversation, or the idea itself, it made me realize that if I want to be a successful entrepreneur, I always need to have a business plan. The business idea I told him about was actually something that I hoped to pursue in the future but I haven't put much thought into it so when he started drilling me with questions, I realized that I have not thought about this idea as much as I think I have. He was asking me about manufacturing, design, and even marketing which was something I haven't even considered. To add onto this, in ISM, we were given an assignment in which we must research and talk about 5 articles related to our topic and I kept my articles about entrepreneurship, ofcourse, but more specifically product design and innovation. This really set in stone this mindset that I always need to have a plan if I want my business(es) to grow weather that be now or in the future because the articles talked about so much that I had never even heard of or taken into consideration like what business framework I would do, or how I would keep it eco friendly. It made me realize that I always need to question myself and keep expanding on my ideas whether that be for a business or life in general because as Scott Belsky said “It’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen.” and the only way to make ideas happen is by putting the work and thought into them.
